TWA Celebrates 36 Years at its Annual Convention in July 

San Antonio, Texas – The Texas Wildlife Association (TWA) celebrates 36 years of promoting effective habitat conservation and responsible hunting through private land stewardship at its annual convention, WildLife 2021 on July 15-18, in San Antonio. Wildlife enthusiasts from across Texas will come together for three days of fun, education, and top-notch networking. Each year more than 1,500 people attend this premier event. The annual convention, touted as one of the “family-friendliest parties in Texas,” is hosted at the beautiful JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa. TWA is a non-profit organization serving Texas wildlife and its habitat, while protecting property rights, hunting heritage, and the conservation efforts of those who value and steward wildlife resources. TWA’s nearly 9,000 members own or manage approximately 40 million acres of rangeland and wildlife habitat in Texas. 

 WildLife 2021 highlights include: 

The Grand and Silent Auctions – On Saturday night, TWA hosts two outstanding auctions. The Grand Auction features hunting opportunities donated by TWA members. These private ranch hunts, for the most part, are unavailable through any other venue. The Silent Auction features all kinds of great and unique items ranging from feeders, blinds, firearms, clothing, jewelry, optics, and so much more. The Silent Auction also features an Outdoor Adventures component that includes hunts, fishing trips, and vacation packages! Some items, thus far, in the Grand Auction include:

8th Annual Private Lands Summit – This unique event, held on Thursday July 15th prior to the official opening of convention, will feature an outstanding cast of speakers discussing a wide variety of topics for landowners looking to broaden their income portfolio including ecotourism, camping, photography, R3 movement and the important role that private land stewardship plays in the sustainability of our resources. 

TWA Foundation Luncheon – Held on Friday July 16th, the TWA Foundation (TWAF) Luncheon features special awards along with an informative keynote address. This year’s keynote address will be featuring Steven Rinella. Rinella is is the host of the Netflix Original series MeatEater and The MeatEater Podcast. He’s also the author of six books dealing with wildlife, hunting, fishing and wild game cooking, including the bestselling MeatEater Fish and Game Cookbook: Recipes and Techniques for Every Hunter and Angler. TWAF promotes educational, research, and informational activities in support of wildlife, habitat, and the management of the same. The activities and programs include science curriculum for middle school students, leadership camps, youth hunting opportunities, teacher training and adult education seminars, all of which are conducted by the Texas Wildlife Association. 

TWA Trade Show – Almost 100 exhibitors will show and sell their wares throughout the two-day event. Here, one can find the latest in wildlife management tools, ranch equipment, handcrafted knives, jewelry, accessories and eye-catching fashion. There definitely will be something for everyone. 

Statewide Texas Big Game Awards Sportsman’s Celebration – Some of the most spectacular specimens of white-tailed deer, mule deer, pronghorn antelope, javelin and bighorn sheep taken during the 2020-2021 hunting season will be on display at the Statewide Texas Big Game Awards Sportsman’s Celebration scheduled for the evening of Friday, July 16th sponsored by Nyle Maxwell Family of Dealerships. The program recognizes both the hunter who took the outstanding animal and the land manager whose efforts produced the habitat necessary to sustain the animal. Also awarded will be those hunters who took the special Texas Slam Award, which is an award given to those hunters and landowners who harvest all four qualifying TBGA species in one season. 

TWA Range Riders Program – The “TWA Range Riders” program provides a full range of activities for TWA attendees’ children ages 4-12 during the evening events of July 16-17. Limited space applies.

TWA Family Reunion Dinner – Sponsored by WildLife 2021 Platinum Sponsor Capital Farm Credit, the TWA Family Reunion Dinner is a great opening to our convention for all attendees. Held on Friday night of the convention, the dinner precedes the Statewide Texas Big Game Awards Sportsman’s Celebration, with wonderful and unique foods, drinks, and desserts. This event allows for multi-generational families to visit and gather, as well as allows for our members to visit with their long-time friends. 

TWA Family Breakfast – The TWA Family Breakfast, sponsored by San Pedro Ranch, is a great way to begin Saturday for all convention attendees. Now being held in the trade show exhibit ballroom, the TWA Family Breakfast precedes the WildLife 2021 education seminars, giving the attendees a high-energy start to the busiest day of the convention.
